We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our Core Banking team and drive the analysis of complex banking and payments initiatives across our platform. You will work across Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Compliance to turn domain complexity into clear, structured requirements that support high-quality delivery in a regulated environment. This is a role for someone who understands how banking products really work beneath the surface — from payment flows and ledger logic to safeguarding, reconciliation, and operational controls.
Location: Cyprus, onsite via employment contract; Portugal or Poland, remote via contractor arrangement
Reporting to: Product Manager
What you will do:
Own requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation across core banking product domains, including accounts, payments, cards, FX, and fee management
Define and document end-to-end payment flows across EU and UK schemes, including inbound, outbound, internal, rejected, returned, and recalled transactions
Translate money movement, settlement, and accounting logic into functional requirements in close collaboration with Finance and Engineering
Define requirements for banking settlement and correspondent account operations, including reconciliation, safeguarding, segregation of funds, and internal fund movements
Convert regulatory and compliance obligations into actionable functional specifications and acceptance criteria, including areas such as KYC, AML, transaction monitoring, and licensing requirements
Partner closely with Engineering on API design, system integrations, service dependencies, and solution design, bringing strong domain context into technical discussions
Break down large initiatives into structured delivery artefacts, ensuring clear traceability from business need to implementation outcome
Coordinate and support UAT, business validation, and stakeholder sign-off across Operations, Finance, Compliance, Product, and Engineering
Identify gaps in operational processes and internal tooling, including client account management, fee configuration, transaction monitoring workflows, and exception handling
Manage scope, dependencies, assumptions, and stakeholder alignment across multiple parallel workstreams
What we need:
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in fintech, banking, or a PI/EMI environment, with direct experience delivering core banking or payments-related capabilities
Strong knowledge of EU and UK banking domains, including multi-currency IBANs, correspondent banking, safeguarding and segregation of client funds, nostro account structures, and PI/EMI operating models
Deep expertise in payment rails and transaction lifecycles, including SEPA (SCT, SCT Inst, SDD, returns, recalls), SWIFT, Faster Payments, BACS, and CHAPS
Solid understanding of double-entry accounting, ledger logic, general ledger structures, Chart of Accounts, and journal flows in a regulated financial environment
Ability to work credibly with Engineering on system architecture, API contracts, event-driven integrations, and service interactions
Comfortable reading and interpreting API documentation, process flows, sequence diagrams, and technical specifications
Strong business analysis toolkit, including process modelling, requirements decomposition, acceptance criteria writing, and structured documentation
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to align Engineering, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and Product around complex requirements and delivery trade-offs
Nice to Have:
Working knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and obligations, including AML/KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, GDPR, PSD2, and EMI-related controls in the EU and/or UK
Experience working in environments with regulated money movement, safeguarding controls, and financial reconciliation processes
Good delivery coordination skills across Agile and hybrid delivery models, including backlog refinement, dependency tracking, and cross-team planning
